A Bad Habit

LIES: (Noun) “an intentionally false statement”

When I am faced with a situation where I have a chance to tell the truth or a lie, I usually choose the second option.

Ever since I was a small boy I lied. I lied so much it became like second nature to me. As common as eating. I have tried to stop but it always comes back. The only way for me to stop would be for me to have God inside of me. I have made a vow to God that I will never lie again, and I tend never to break that vow, I also made a small board in my room which records the last time I lied.

A man of God once said:

“If you want to change a bad habit, you do everything you can to stop it.”

My Dirty Suit

It's very frustrating when you have a stain on your shirt, pants or in my case suits. I have this very nice suit which I love to wear every time I go to church, but there is one big flaw: it gets dirty very easy. That’s the one factor I hate about that suit.

And this got me thinking the other day on how our lives are the same. Our lives can be compared to that stain on your shirt, pants or suits. When we do something wrong we stain our lives, we can try and clean it but the stain and dirt won't come out.
The only way to remove the stain from out clothes is to thrust it into the washing machine, and speaking in the spiritual terms, throw ourselves into God’s hands, and let Him clean and wash us free from our sins.

Happy New Year

Well here we are in 2010, do you know what that means? It means another year to achieve greater things. Last year on the 1st of January of 2009 I made a list of goals that I would pursue until the end of the year. And I gotta tell you some of them were a success but some of them I either finished half way or didn’t finish at all. And honestly I hate that feeling of starting something and not finishing, it completely destroys your enthusiasm to do new things later on.

Some of you may be thinking, “Oh God another year, what am I going to do now?” let me give you a hint, try and set down some goals for this year. It doesn’t need to be a huge list, I think 7 with be enough. And after you write them down… GO for it! At the end of the year you will not feel empty or sad but happy that you have achieved something great!

Many people ruin their year by just living it the way they did in 2009. So don’t be one of them, lets stand out among the rest and conquer.

"Im Back"

Dear Readers Of Amos Bethlehem,

It is with deep sorrow that I have left my blog empty for these past few months. I have seen some of your comments and have noticed some were getting annoyed, I’m sorry. But the Lord Jesus has helped me this past couple of weeks and I Have finally got rid of that obstacle. Now I will be able to write to you again.

I will be posting articles every Saturday so watch this space.

Doer not Hearer

Something we all lack is action. We tend to hear a lot but act little upon it, that’s why many people even in the church don’t see results. They come, sit there, hear the word, and go home, and they see no results. Why?

God is not going to drop the blessing from heaven. Although he did say that he would: “open the windows of heaven, and pour out so much blessing”. Didn’t He? But he would only pour it on us IF we TEST HIM! What is a test? It’s an action.

So he’s teaching us that we have to test him in other words action, so faith without action is dead. I was reading James 1:22-24, I would recommend you to read it. And there’s a funny part in it that says:

“For if anyone is a hearer of the word but not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in the mirror. For he observes himself and goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was”.

Need I say more?

Laziness

I hate it when to alarm wakes me up. Because I’m in the best of my sleep and then a big noise starts to eek it’s way into my mind, then I have to wake up. Sometimes I just hit the snooze button repeatedly.

Come on I bet you do that! We all do and have done it a few times down the road of our lives. Now what I’m getting at is that this small and innocent looking gesture, can be a colossal mistake called: LAZINESS.

Everyone has felt laziness, I have, you have even the president of the United States and Brazil has. So laziness is something you can't run away from, unless you starve the laziness. So Amos how can I do that? Well, there is an action called: action! Get it? So when you don’t feel like doing anything and just lazing around like a sloth, that’s exactly when you have to get up and do something.

You’ll not only starve the laziness but also kill the joy and plans of the devil, because he’s the one that wants you yo be lazy and forget your duties. So don’t let him have his ways in you.

“It takes one small mistake to open a big hole for the devil to enter your life.

So

“Watch and pray”…. “Daily!”

God Bless

"Two Thoughts"

This Day of Decision event is for those who are sick and tired of their life the way it is, this event is for those, and only those who wish to turn their life around. If this is you please read on. If you say “my life is great” or “I don’t need help” then please don’t read. Someone’s life will change in the place of yours.

So this event is based on the story of Elijah. Who was Elijah? He was the last active prophet in Israel, why was he the last? Because Ahab (who in the Bible, describes him as the worst king ever to live) was killing all the prophets of the Lord, due to the fact that a new God was in town, called baal, And that everyone in Israel was forced to worship or else. But baal only came to existence because of Ahab’s demonic spouse Jezebel.

Elijah called everyone to gather on Mount Carmel, he asked them “till when are you going to waver between two thoughts?”. And he also proposed a challenge, The God who answers by fire, He is God. The people of Israel agreed, and liked the idea, so both Elijah and the prophets of baal set up an altar, and placed two bulls on it. In a nutshell the insane prophets and people of baal lost and when Elijah called on God fire immediately came down.

So how do you think this applies to you?

“till when are you going to waver between two thoughts?”

Do you want to change your life? Then now is the time. Don’t wait for you to die to change. Don’t be in doubt: “should I do it?” “Should I wait?” Don’t wait, the blessing is dangling in front of you, take it, it’s yours.
